Summary:
The section I read was part of the prologue so there wasn’t much happening. The 15 pages just went over who the characters were and gave a little background. These 15 pages went through characters who were big and mall in the story. It gave a basic setting on what was going on in the story and what was happening in the main character Boobie Miles life. In the end of 15 pages it got into some drama about how Boobie got a knee injury and now there is a younger newer black running back who plays over him and does a good job and he feels like everyone forgot about him. He is so upset with this he throws his equipment off when he gets to the locker rooms and threatens the coaches he’s going the quit.
Vocabulary:
Preening- (of a bird) straiten and clean its feathers with its beak.
Catharsis- the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions.
This book frustrates me right from the get go. There are so many characters that you have to learn who have different personalities, backgrounds, and habits. The book put so much information to absorb at once that your overwhelmed and don’t know what’s going on. It also frustrates me because I am not interested in the book at this point so far. The book is just there to me right now and reading it is not fun. If the book doesn’t get more interesting after the prologue I am going to drop it and start a new book. This book is also frustrating to me because I read it to read about football barely any football has been mentioned yet.
